Dooley Sounds 2 Years, 6 Months ago

I must admit I love my Dooleys was not impressed with the sound initially. After calling Roadhouse they recommended the performance baffle that would give me a beefier sound. I have ran them 6 months already and still dissappointed in the low key sound unless I'm actually on the bike cracking the throttle. I tried pulling the baffles out, and there is no damn way I can tolerate the nasty sound that is being produced from the back of the bike, they sound horrible on my bike without baffles. At this point I don't know what to do to get at least a little bit more of a growl going. I thought about yanking of the baffle packing but was scared I would get the same nasty sound I did when I pulled the baffle out.
Is there anyone who yanked off the baffle wrapping on their Dooleys or is there another way to get some more sound out of this beat.

Hey RoadstarmikeNJ
Another way to do it, is to wrap the baffles with sheet steel, and clamp them. I used 3 stainless steel clamps for each side, and RTV'ed the seams, so no leaks. I prefered the sound with the muffler packing back in on mine. Really wakes up the Dooleys, but will loose back presure. You will need to get a couple Torque Cones, or will lose fuel mileage.

Only had mine for a few weeks now and although I love the Look I hate the sound , woofy / wooly and indistinct .never crisp and Not as deep as the advertising Says . Also I think I am missing some back pressure and therefore low to midrange torque .
I have the standard Baffle which is a straight thru almost identical to Vance and Hines etc . Thinking seriously about Adding Thunder Monster Baffles which worked amazingly well in my Cobra 2 into 1 Pipe.
BUT its going to be tricky with that Crossover Pipe . Kind of wishing I had bought True Dualls rather than the crossover variety .

It's a 60/40 split. should be the right pipe pushing more.

Right side of my exhaust is much stronger than the left. I think others have said that the exhaust distribution due to the pipes not being "true" duals is like 70%R/30%L, but I could be wrong.
I will also agree that the sound of the pipes without any baffles installed(wrapped or not) is not pleasing to the ear at all!

well, i agree they look nice kinda old school style but the only problem they arent loud enough to mask the engine sound , maybe cuz they are stretched back to the tail. also the uneven distribution of the 2 pipes might lead to the week sound. i would say stock pipes sounds even better and louder.
