NEED BETTER PASS SEAT FOR 06 SILVERADO 2 Years, 6 Months ago
HI GUYS,i just bought an 06 silverado 1700 and its killing the wifes (oh so well paddedtoushy) because the stock pass seat is like a rock and i have to admit it really sucksed when i sat on it for 5 mins. What the heck were the eng's @ yamaha thinking when they designed the pass seat on the top of the line road star cruiser that they know many women will ride on with their hubbies? Cruisers are all about crusing and that often involves a passenger too esp on a silverado, whats up with that?

Dont get me wrong i like the bike and it runs very well but that paqss seat stinks, plain & simple.

Anyway,i found a place that will re-stuff it with supposedly a little softer foarm for approx $75 bucks using with reusing stock outter sheel thats in like new cond that they said it will improve it some but that may not be good enough as the seat is kinda small and thin so how much can they really improve it with a little softer foam inside?

I have seen the mustang seats etc and they are nice but i have no problems so far with stock seat and dont reall wnat or need to replace my drivers seat.

So question is does anyone know where i can buy a replacmenet pass seat that's a little larger/thicker/wider with epscially with softer inner foam that will be a direct bolt on that will also work/fit with the stock seat on my 06 silverado 1700 ?

Or must i buy a complete new driver/pass seat combo like Mustang soffer's to correct this issue and hope that new potato chip type drivers seat will also be as comfy for me as the stock seat is?

a friend of mine just tld me someone he knows complained that the riding position changed with the new mustang driver/pass seat combo He installed which makes him sit closer to the tank and HE is uncomfortable with it . Have any of you found that to be that case with that Mustang seat so i know before considering buying it if i cant find a single pass seat to satisfy the wife's toushy?

Please if possible could you also include where to buy it/mfg/pt etc when making suggestions to ensure i get the right seat.

thanks...Scott

It really hurt my feelings to cough up almost a thousand bucks for seating, but I 'bit the bullet' and changed to Ultimates about 9 months ago and now think it was a good investment. You know the saying "if momma's happy, everyone's happy".

Just like TS I purchases the Ultimate seat for my wife... she loves it. I was very concerned that we couldn't ride very far on her stock seat for having to stop so much, but now... We have ridden 400 mile days and not a sound out of her. She absolutely loves the Ultimate seat... so much so that I got one. Best money I spent on this motorcycle.

It's not a new seat but I saw in a mag a thing called the butt buddy.
It is a wider pillion that slides over your existing pad. Supposed to
be wider and take the pressure point off, plus you just pull it off for
shorter rides or when solo.

When i bought my 06 my wife insisted on the mustang seat. It's thicker and she sits higher and i think it's also wider. Hope she doesn't see these threads on the ultimate.

Nothing is better than a good after market seat. I have a Mustang and it did move me up a little. I got used to it fast though and I'm 6'1". That said if your short of cash I have seen some get the Venture stock seats on E-Bay cheap and switch the pans so they would fit your bike. Seems easy enough and the Venture seats are really nice too. I had two Ventures before this Road Star.

If you go with the Ultimate seat, you don't have to buy the drivers seat. The passenger seat will work with stock front seat.
