Abnormal rough running bike 2 Years, 6 Months ago
|
|
I have a 08 Roadstar 1700 w/approx. 10,000 miles & just recently changed the pipes to a set of " Bub Big Willy's" added the "Power Commander" & changed the air filter to a "K & N". I have always had bad gas mi., the light usually kicks on w/126 miles showing from full.
I have the Pair vavle blocked & the Oxygen sensors have resisters in them to make them work (not installed in the pipes)
With all the maps given from P.C. it seems to run really rough in 4th & 5th when the bike flattens out.
This seems to be a real problem because it is in a High Performance Bike Shop & they are trying to Dyno-tune it for a custom map.
They have done a leak-down test, that's ok. Pulled the gas tank & checked all hoses & wires, that's ok. Changed spark plugs & still can't seem to figure out what the problem is.
........ Got any clues??

Hey Dweise,
Only a few F.I. Roadie experts here. Hang tight and they will appear.

Dweise, TampaSVT seems to be the man on the '08's. As far as I know he's not running the PC. If he doesn't show up soon try PMing him. Btw,

Thanks for the info. You mean try unhooking the Power Commander?
What does PMing mean?

From what I've gleaned from the members who have FI, the PC has caused problems in some installations. Do the new pipes have bungs welded in them for the oxygen sensors? If not, that probably needs to be done & the sensors installed so they can work as they were designed to do. I think I'm correct in saying that Tampa installed his that way & it has worked well. However, what I know about the FI systems is what I've learned here as I'm a carb guy. Btw,a PM is a private message sent directly to a member. The PM link is under the members name & avatar on each post. It's similar to email except it goes through the Clinic. Also, I see you have 2 posts going with the same problem. It would be better to confine it to 1 to avoid confusion.
