Broken lifter and damaged cam 2 Weeks, 3 Days ago
Ok, got the report from the shop today that was doing my recall. The bike has a broken lifter and that damaged the cam. He said $1300 to repair, $1000 of that being parts. It seems a wee bit high to me, but that's what they say. My first thought, pull the tank, pull the head, replace the lifter and cam. Any suggestions of a source other than my local dealer? Should I expect to pay this much? I'm technically minded but no master mechanic mind you.

He said it was running on the rear cylinder only, which sort of went in my theory of a plug being fowled. I've built car engines before no problem. New cams? easy. lifters? not a biggy. The bike just seems like less parts and easier to get to.

Any holes in my theory? Anyone have a front cam and lifter for sale? Am I out of my mind?

Thanks.
