Re:Horrible Gas Milage??? HELP PLEASE!! 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Does anyone happen to know the thickness of the white spacer on the stock needle? I am running Mikuni 170 jet 4th clip on Barons needle with 2 silver washers. elevation 700 ft gas mileage 36-38 2 up 70 mph. tried to make it better by moving to 3rd clip and it would not run down the street.idles good but would not take throttle changed back to 4th clip and will test this morning weather permitting. Just wondering if i need the spacer in there? it seemed to have launched itself into never never land.thouhgt i would try 2 make one rather than buying the complete needle set at 30 plus shipping as none of my local dealers stock this item.

I'm at 430-480 172.5 main, Barons needle clip on 3 with two silver washers, 35 pilot, Barons PMS out 2 and I get 50-52 at 70-80 mph highway, 36-38 city. BTW I have a self ported manifold, irridium plugs, dyna 3000 set at 34A. You could try my setting. Also I have accel pump nut on the back side with the screw all the way in. Sorry didn't see the last part of your post there wish I have the dimension of the spacer for you. I will check around.

I don't know the thickness....sorry , but will tell you that you can buy small washers at Radio shack that will work. Now , if someone knows the thickness , you can get somewhere. If you went from # 4 spot to the # 3 spot from the TOP You were leaning it out. That explains why it idled (different circuit all together) to not wanting to run at all. BB

I was the same way and I am lucky my wife understands and loves my fooling with it. Don't get me wrong not any one thing has gotten me to the kind of mileage that I get now. The only thing that has remained constant is the main jet (172.5). That is what Barons recomended when I installed the BAK. The needle, pilot, float, PMS all have been fiddled with. The best didn't come until I put the iridium plgs in but all the changes I have made got me to where I am now. It is a slow process but sure feels good when you get it there.

i am still lookin for that feeling ,the paperwork i got from Barons said 170 stock pipes 172.5 pipes with baffles but it was for 04-05 models mine is a 07 i am running 170 with cobra slipons BAK ,still have fuelpump.Removed Ais. Pms 2.5 turns out. Barons said reinstall all stock spacer & washers.I have been running with 2 washers for about a year now. Cant seem to find my white spacer so i thought i would make one just in case i needed it. Still lookin to improve after reading these posts about all this great mileage

Don't forget you are running most of the time on the pilot and needle when you are crusing. It is my thought that the main is the least to worry about as that is more for top end wide open throttle. You can change any numbers of things, the pilot and then move the needle up or down, main and move the needle up or down, PMS settings. To me a dyno run will tell you where you need to change and AF ratio at that point.
