R6 Calipers 2 Years, 6 Months ago
It has been said on the forum that the front brake calipers can be replaced with 4 piston units from a R1 or R6. My son-in-law has his '07 R6 stored here, and looking at the front brakes, they don't mount anything like ours. Is there a specific year that needs to be used to get them to bolt up to our bikes?

Thanks, Paul

doesn't yours have 4 piston calipers in the front? the 2004 up road stars have 4 piston calipers, the 99-03 have the 2 piston calipers

The R1/R6 calipers (certain years) are the same as the 1700 calipers.

You only benefit the switch if you have a 1600.

Hmmmm... I was hoping to be able to loose one of the front disks and yet retain fairly good front braking. Anyone have an idea of what I may be able to do?

I have an R1 rotor and caliper with a Warrior MC and an SS line with EBC Green pads.

Single rider ... braking is equivalent to stock. I can lock up the front at 20/30 mph.

Dual rider .... you will need a little longer distance to brake.
