That's correct .... that's why you use a Warrior MC.

So you went with the R1 to get a 4 piston on a pre '04, or is the R1 a 6 piston unit?

Yes ... that's correct ... R1/R6 = 4 piston

No ... to get a 6 piston you need an older YZF750 caliper .... they are rare and expensive.

Just snagged a pair of the YZF 750 R6 six-pot calipers with ss lines for my *.

My front brakes on my '01 have been just pitiful... read here I could do something about it, so I'm going to learn firsthand whether these will do the trick.

Another winter upgrade!!! Whoohoo!
