I replaced mine with extra long screws and a butt load of washers. Dip the washers in rubber cement or the equivalent. Now I can break them loose and finger them out. I'd love to find some valve cover style t handles for them. Any inventors out there?

BigboyinMS is right.They areM4-.70x10. And those phillips screws strip easy because they are made to Japanese standards and not compatable to our screw drivers. I purchased a Japanese phillips head from a model train store and it worked like a charm. But replaceing them works out better.

Sears sells a special little removal tool that works like such a gem it's amazing Right Makcap? He used mine and was amazed. So anyone, stop in and PU a set. You never know when you might need them, They make sets for like Philips heads, slotted and outside nuts and bolts they all have worked great. The dudes that work in the store can steer you to them just by telling them what you want to do. The least expensive way though is to slot them out as previously described.

Great minds think alike GS. I bought a set from a hobby shop and they work great in all areas of my scoot. They're made by Vessel. Saved my bacon many times.

now why is that? are the heads more shallow or something?
I think that was my problem, the head of the screwdriver was too long and didn't sink all the way into the head of the bolt.

This might sound nuts but I've found that if I put the carb in a vise to hold it or have a burly friend hold it down on the bench top makes it easier to get the crap screws out, then chuck 'em and put allen heads in. Just my $.02. |
