Hi Curt,

I have your SVS cure and I've read it. But do I haveto pull the pipes? Also, what do you think about just using a spray bottle with the Sea Foam in it.....or do I have to find the special spray version?

I'm LAZY

I did it without pulling the pipes a few time it just depends on how bad you've got it. Once you get it cleaned up you HAVE TO get the jetting right or it will come right back. You can always try it and see the jetting is the important part to curing it.

OK....I'm going to give it a good soaking through the carb tonight and see how she does tomorrow.

I started chasing my tail this summer trying to stop the pinging by going rich.....big mistake! The ping was probably caused by the carbon on the valves. I know, I know.....plenty of warnings here on the Clinic! Gotta learn these lessons on my own sometimes, I guess.
Anyway, I'm down to the 167.5 main, third clip with a washer, stock pilot, 2.5 turns on the PMS (barons kit). Poor man's BAK and Cobra 2-into-1 and I ported the manifold (but not too radical.)

I just don't want to pull the pipes if I don't have to.

I use Lucas..... add about 3 oz per tank. Might not do any good but I think it does and that is what counts.

I use Lucas too, because of the lubricating properties it has.

I like Marvel Mystery Oil too...I usually switch between that and Lucas. I haven't put anything in there in a while...and darn if it didn't puke on me yesterday!

Re:Seafoam question 2 Years, 7 Months ago
So I went out for a nice long ride today with some friends and in my travels I stopped to pick up a bottle of Seafoam. Eyeballing what I thought was about a quarter of the 16oz bottle(4oz), I poured it in, shook up the tank a little and hit the road. Now, I dont know how much was me wanting to see an immediate result from doing this, but I would say that within about 15mins or so I could notice a big difference in the throttle response and overall torque that came right back. If that was all it took, Im completely sold on putting in a few oz's at each fillup and including this into my maintenance schedule.

My turn... I used Curts Cure with great results. I continued to use Seafoam every fillup since... until I ran out one occasion and resumed using MMO in an attempt not to waste the bottle I bought many months prior. After 3-4 tank fulls I noticed a marked decrease in response and performance and it just plain did not run the same. I resumed using Seafoam and immediatly my R* responded. Me and my '04 will stay with Seafoam from now on.

Raider, Scotto,

I too am very faithful to seafoam and have noticed a huge diff.

Came here just a small time ago with a bike in badly need of a tune up. Started with a can of seafoam. NOticed a huge diff, worked so well it blew out my rear plugs with all the crap that go removed from the carb. Cleaned out the crab with some spray, changed plugs, cleaned out carb again with spray, let it soak, bottle in the tank, ran it like a mad man, chainged the oil and add some each tank now.

I go without adding anthing a tank or two and when I put the seafoam back in man do i notice a diff. The stuff works wonders.

I am about to take Curts advice now and find the problem that is lead my bike to this condition. Most likely the jetting. This is key since taking care of the problem will keep you from having to do such a thorough cleaning so often.

I have a buddy with a 05 Warrior. It pings at low RPMS when hot. Could this be a symptom of SVS that the Seafoam treatment might help?

I don't usually believe in additives, but Seafoam has my vote. My bike always ran strong, but always a tad rough. I dumped in some Seafoam in the gas tank and it now runs a smooth as silk. I'll probably use an ounce or two once a month or so. I'm not sure why you need to change oil after using it though.
