Oil, Spark Plug, Air Pressure, Sea Foam Questions. 2 Years, 6 Months ago
OIL

What is the best synthetic motor oil that you guys use?

Has anyone ever used screaming eagle oil?

Spark Plug

Do you have to remove the gas tank to replace spark plugs?

Where is the cheapest place to purchase the iridium plugs?

Air Pressure

What is the correct air pressure that should be ran in both front and rear?

Sea Foam

If I read correctly, somewhere, it said to use a full bottle just before changing oil, is it to early to go ahead and add a full bottle for "shock treatment" a week in advance? I just filled up yesterday when I got out of class.

I will hopefully be doing all of this next sunday.

The BEST oil is a subjective thing because opinions will vary greatly. I & many others on the forum use Mobil 1 v-twin 20-50. I think it's the best, but many have used Mobil 1 car oil with great success. Never used Screaming Eagle oil. Yes, you'll need to remove the tank to gain accesss to the plugs. Bought my Iridiums online at Sparkplugs.com because at the time I couldn't find them locally, but am told Advance Auto now has them at a reasonable price. I run air pressure at 36 front & 41 rear, but I ride 2 up a lot. Run 36 & 36 solo. You need Seafoam only if you're having trouble with SVS. If the carb is jetted properly & you use good oil & change it on a regular schedule you shouldn't need additives. I've never had a need to use it. Hope this helps.

1, Oil -too contraversial of a subject to start. They are all good take your pick.
2, Spark pugs- yes you have to remove the tank for the inside ones. Some might say that you can just tip it up, although that is true there is no reason to do it like that the tank comes off easy. Also I found advanced to be the best price on the plugs.
3, Tires- I run 36-38 psi front and rear.
Seafoam put it in now ,Just run out the tank of gas before changing oil.

Spark Plug

Do you have to remove the gas tank to replace spark plugs?
If you're doing it yourself, YES.

Where is the cheapest place to purchase the iridium plugs?
Use stock NGK or Autolite plugs.

Air Pressure

What is the correct air pressure that should be ran in both front and rear?

For stock tires, 35 PSI (front), 39 PSI (rear).

Sea Foam

Skip the shock treatment. Just run a tankful or 3 (1 ounce per gallon of gas) before Winter storage. In between, run a treated tankful every month or so.

OOOOO This is gonna be good!!!!!

I use Mobil 1 20-50 with a Walmart filter 7123 I think. . .
Haven't changed plugs yet but you will have to remove the gas tank to swap them out.
Don't sweat it. . .the hardest part is unhooking the electronic cluster. . .really
Tire pressure varies. . . .38 front. . . . .38-41 rear. . .solo or 2up

Sea foam. . .this is one of the greatest little secrets known to man!!! I add about 2-3 OZ every 3rd tank.
Do I need it. . don't think so. . .would I need it if I never used it. YES. . .BUT this is the
BEST insurance you can get for your V-Twin. Remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!!

Keep the rubber down and the Speedo up!!

I've been keeping a secret,, amsoil makes an upper cylinder lube as well...I've used it occasionally over the past year, put a shot in the tank every now and then,,.... it hasn't hurt anything,,and the plugs looked real good after 7k...Is it any good? I think so, but I also think my bike would be running just as good without it....
