Finally got it right 2 Years, 6 Months ago
After all the trouble I was having with my oil yesterday, I have searched everywhere for RP 20w50. After search about 50 miles today and taking about 1 hour, I finally found the oil I was looking for. Even did a internet search for local RP dealers. Nothing was found withing 75 miles. I was determined to find it. Well I finally did. I found it at O' Reillys $8 quart, and to make it better I can return the USED oil and not have to pay a disposal fee. Yay for O' Reillys. Will definitely do business with them again.

Yesterday, I also got my spark plugs changed out. I went with the Iridiums. Took a lot longer to change than expected. I can definitey tell a difference at idle and performance. I also ran a bottle of sea foam through the tank. I am gonna change the oil and brake pads this coming up weekend and also put new saddle bags on the bike.

$8/quart for oil? These are Roadstars not Ferraris.

Castrol GTX 20w50 = $8 for all the oil you need.

I too started down that road but gave up after my third $50 oil change. My $.02.

Glad you found what you were looking for.

Just an FYI,the over the conter pass car Castrol 20-50 GTX sold today has greatly reduced zddp(only 800-850ppm) and you should not be running it in an air cooled v-twin with a flat tappet cam.

Long tern over many miles that GTX will shorten the life of your R*'s motor so keep that in mind.

For only a $1 more a qt you can get valvolines 20-50 bike oil specifically mfg'sd for big v-twins with wet clutches that also has the proper zddp lvl (1400ppm) for safe flat tappet cam protection and to also aid in additional overall engine protection too.

I was a huge Castrol gtx 20-50 fan for my 4 stroke bikes and 396-427 bbc's motors for over 25-30yrs BUT when the zddp was reduced in that oil i stopped running it in my bikes & street perf bbc motors.

Since then i have been running valvolines 20-50 bike oil in the bikes & spectro's new hi perf oil for flat tappet cam'd muscle car motors with 1800ppm zddp in it in my BBC street perf motors.

Summit sells that same spectro oil re-pkg'd under their name ,it's avail in conventional ($5.96 qt) & semi blend ($5.95 qt) in st 30wt/10-40/20-50 grades.

Spectro also seels a hi quality conventional 20-50 oil for 4 stroke/v-twin biles that's pcied a little higher at $7-$7.95 qt which is good oil too along with their either semi blend or was it full syn oil spectro offers too if you want to step up a notch in oil quality.

Check out spectro's oil site for details but be aware that their new oil for flaqt tappet cam'd motors is called MOTOR GUARD and thier motorcycle oil is called just that, MOTORCYCLE OIL so keep that in mind so you dont confuse them if you check them out or buy them.

You can buy the spectro oils online from spectro/other bike shops & dealers that are online, and or at your locar bike shop.

I tried the Valvoline MC 20-50 last change and I like it. Smoother shifts and quieter lifters. It was $3.99 here at Autozone. Never really been a synthetic or blend person since I quit two-strokes in the 70's. Can't bring myself to go to a cheaper filter as others have....yet.

You can get synthetic oil on-line from many different companies and many of them offer free shipping like Amazon and many others.
