Thanks for all the responses guys! I have looked at alot of bikes lately and the roadstar just really caught my attention and stood out in the crowd. I live in dallas texas and the bike i own now is liquid cooled so i was wondering how the roadstar does in extreme heat and alot of stop and go traffic. I've not had so much luck with my liquid cooled bike as i have a radiator leak right now..lol....$500.00 part...ouch!

Texas heat NO PROBLEM! There are quite a few here from Texas. There are even a few in your area.

jrh_67! I have over 115,000 miles on my 2000 Road Star... still runs as strong as the day she was bought, if not stronger... it seems the more I do to help her perform, the better she gets... I just went pumpless with a ported manifold and Holy Shit! she runs like a raped ape! You cant go wrong with a Road Star and I have owned a lot of other brands...

I live in Sacramento summer temps in the 100's and I daily commute. No problems at all, don't really notice heat from the rear cylinder either. BOL

Hi, Welcome to the Clinic! I live in the Phoenix metro area. Temps in the summer here exceed 115 often. I've had my roadie for 5 years now and she's only once overheated. That was sitting in 110+ temps in traffic because of an accident. Just pulled her over and let her cool down for a few minutes and off we went. She doesn't like to sit in traffic. I have an '04, the year notorious for SVS and I have never had it. I had some issues with bad plugs along time ago, when the bike was new, but I believe it was because the bike was rejetted wrong (to rich). That was fixed. My stator went out after two years. My fuel sender (for the gas gauge) went out about 2 years ago. My bike is very reliable. Other than what I mentioned, batteries, oil changes, tires, other standard maintenance issues, the only other money I've spent has been on accessories. She's been on 3K+ mile road trips and no problems other than a sore butt.
