greyphart, your link didnt work,i'd like to see what you
are working from.

The sides of the hitch are made from 1/4" steel. It's very strong. As for removable No! You could remove the ball when not in use but otherwise it stays in place.
As for pivot, you will hear pros & cons on the subject but I installed a 360 degree pivot on the front of the trailer.

To me the swivel hitch makes a huge difference in how a trailer pulls. It will keep the trailer flat as the bike leans into the turns. Also when you park your bike over on the kickstand the trailer doesn't effect the bike with the swivel hitch.Yes a regular ball is made to swivel but to me it's not enough, After installing the swivel on my trailer I could tell a major difference. Again you will hear people say cons about the swivel so it's all up to you. I have been pulling a trailer now for 10 years and logged alot of miles so I do have some real life experiance with what I'm talking about.

Jade,
Thanks, those links are great.
What is everyones opinion on the style that greyphart
is showing? I like that you can hide it when not in use
but Danny's set-up looks alot stronger.
Perhaps some reinforcing on that style or another
vender has something?

Can't say much about the hitch... (seeing as I don't have one yet...)
But, once I get a hitch, I'm heading down to the Harbour Freight store for one of their $400 "tag-a-long" trailers...

It's got a 16 C.F. space and a 200 LB capacity (M/C rating... 600 LB for a car...)
I would recommend upgrading the tires to 12" though...
Those little 8"-ers are going to spin pretty fast at 65 mph...

You can build your own if you have or can find one of the Sears cartop carriers. Buy the $199 Harbor Freight trailer or $225 with the 12" wheels, and put the Sears CT carrier on it and your good to go for $199. That's my plan, I've already got the Cartop carrier from a yard sale for $15.

If you can make your own hidden hitch like the one greyphart posted, it should work, and of course look great.
I bought the Hidden Hitch made by Denray Hitches out of Canada, and it wouldn't work with my tires. It would rub both sides of tire. Others have used it with no problems.
I have spokes, and was running Dunlop Cruise Max. The Hidden Hitch fits inside the rear fender brace, so clearance is limited. Very good quality hitch though.

I also had a MCHitch for my Roadstar, and again very good quality hitch.

The only problem with both of these hitches is they do not have the side arms. Work great pulling most lighter weight trailers, but not stable when you try pulling a heavier trailer, or camper.

The MCHitch would be a good & inexpensive choice. If you see you need a little more stability, you can always make a set of side arms later.

I now have a MCHitch for a Royal Star Venture, and it is very stable pulling a camper, because of the way the hitch bolts to the RSV saddlebag brackets. On a good road, I can run 70-75, and forget my camper is back there. At least until I have to stop.

Which hitch can be used with the ghost brackets? And I'm also thinking of going darkside, so clearance inside the fender will be critical.

Yeah we know all about that don't we Dan?? It's a learning curve when it comes to stopping!

Parttime. That hitch that grayphart shows will work but I truly would recommend you make some side arms off of it to run up to the passenger floor board mounts. I can't speak for clearance but I would go with what Coach Dan said about having problems with that hidden hitch rubbing. Even on my HitchDoc hitch I made different arms that would come out and then forward so that I could use the arms to rest the bottom of the saddle bags on them. So that way the braces served 2 purposes.

This is an alternative for carrying extra suff for a lomg weekend.
I use to carry a trailer, but since my wife doesn't ride I made a
home made " saddle Mate " its an item that plugs into a trailer hitch and
carries a quite abit..

My Trailer hitch is called a "Hitch Doc" : link----->
http://www.hitchdoc.com/motorcyclehitches.php

I had to make a Saddle Mate cause they no longer make them...

and instead of a cooler I made a carryall out of a plastic box...
