Anyone have any good advice as to where to buy and what brand works the best?

If you've got some time to kill, Clifford has good prices on Burly Bars. They seem to have all the little details you'd like to see to fit perfectly. Eagerly anticipating mine any day now...

I guess I have a good but stupid question on the same topic. Two of the great members hear really came through for me, one with my 16" apes and another with a riser set. Now when about as scary as it comes when its time to do anything to my bike. The prices Im hearing to extend my cables is CRAZY. Would one of you guys please inform me if there is any special I need to do when extending my cables. I have never done anything of this nature to my bike and scared as hell to start tearing about the black wiring harness and cutting. Also, what gauge wire should be used? I was told by an outsider to just cut all the wires just the middle and to just add regular line wire in between, but for some reason this NON ROADIE man did not get the faith of my star...FREAKN HELP ME>..LOL

Well at some point in time I will be doing this too (when I get my damn bars) so I understand your hesitation. I was told to stagger the splices so you don't wind up with one big clump in the middle. Don't know about you but I'm planning on running internal.

i never did internal on my roadie...but i have done 3 internal wirings on harleys and used 18 gauge...once used 16 and it was ok but real tight, just stagger your splices by at least an inch, he shrink your solder joints, and try to get your hands on the big heat shrink that can fit over all your wires....if your bars on already drilled make sure that you deburr the holes, and maybe open up the hole on bottom of bars a little more (i also bough all my wire to match colors so there was no confusion, costed a little but now have a whole heap of wire to use for future)

as for cables they are certainly very expensive, thats why i would suggest to get a little longer than you need so you only buy once ...also see if you can keep anything by just rerouting, i ended up not needing to change my throttle cable with my 16s on stock risers by moving things around....

also id say drop the return throttle cable you dont need it and it just another 20 or 30 bux to spend for a cable...you dont need to replace all your brake lines, just the top one that goes from the splitter to the MC

I don't think there is enough good to say about Clifford. He is an asset to the R* owners here and a pleasure to do business with. He is my first stop for any and all upgrades/repairs in the future.
