hey nightrider, you have a pm. nightrider wrote:
roadymac - are you running the wires on the clutch side out of the switch housing in the original location? If you are, this is probably the reason you can't get the grip on all the way. Try routing the wires inside the switch housing to the dimple in the bars, then route them under the clutch clamp and then into the bars. That's what I did and it works well. fyi, i'm running Kongs. I have a bunch of pics if anyone needs to see anything specific.

To get the wires through, use a piece of kite string, tape off all holes but your exit and entrance holes, and use compressed air to blow the string through. I spray WD40 inside the bars to make the wires easier to pull. Eliminate any wires you can, I always toss the kickstand safety and the neutral start wires, useless IMO and it eliminates those corny wires hanging outside the switch housings. Fill the holes in the switch housings with RTV. When you cut your wires to extend them, offset each cut by about an inch so your splices don't all line up and cause a bulge. Kuryakyn makes a nice fabric split wrap so you can wrap and protect the wires where they come out the bottom of the bars and go into the headlight. If you gotta make your own holes, use a unibit and drill two holes spaced about an inch apart, then cut between them with a cutoff disc to make a slot with rounded ends. Makes pulling the wires much easier and the slots will be mostly covered by the grips anyway. http://www.namzcustomcycleproducts.com/ can sell you color coded wires and pretty much anything you need to do custom extensions, as well as cables, hoses, etc. Ask for Jeff and tell him Moe sent you, he's a good friend of mine.
