Carb squeak on decel 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Has anyone come across a squeak coming from the carb when decelerating. It does it just once (just a quick "squeak" as soon as I back off the throttle, but will do it everytime. I have a K&N BAK if that helps.

Are you sure it is not the drive belt? They will chirp on decell if too loose.

Sure it is the carb and not the belt? The belt will do that is it is loose or the nylon roller on the front drive pully. Mine does it because I have a driect drive after market pully without a cush drive. Budd of mine thought it was my breaks.

Yep that is what it is 10 lbs should get you 1/2 inch belt deflection if you don't have a way to do that the twist the belt and if it goes past 45 degrees then it is too loose.

Yeah I am pretty sure that is what it is. I can twist the belt a fair amount. I'll adjust it and test it tomorrow. It is funny how noises travel I would have swore it was coming right out of the air filter. Thanks guys I appreciate it!

Shamrock, it's the belt, mine does exactly the same damn thing! It is funny how these bikes are "ventriloquists" and can throw their voice around....

All hail the Road Star Clinic wise men!!!!! I tightened the belt and no more little bird chirping at me. Thanks guys. While I had it on the stand it gave me an excuse to finally remove the front brake rotor covers that I am not a big fan of as well. I have taken off (without exagerating) probably a couple dozen rear wheels on these bikes and have never come across that. Your never too smart to learn something huh?!?!?!!
