Sounds like you just need to clean up the carbs. If the needle is clogged, that'll do that. Or your air/fuel ratio is not set right. What does your filters look like? Still have the fuel pump?

Give us some more info. Are you using the choke ? Does it run bad when it's warmed up? Does it back fire. Just throw out as much detail of the problem as you can and the collective minds of the clinic will help.

Sounds like it starving for fuel make sure your gas supply is good and work your way up to the carb. If it has old gas drain the tank by turning to th reserve and then fill it with fresh gas. Also drain the float bowel on the carb before you turn the new gas on. If it still runs bad then you get to pull the carb. Try the easy stuff first and work your way to the hard stuff. (That Curt's Law) Also change the fuel filter.

Is your Idle set real low so that it lopes at an idle. If it does try to idle it up a little with the black knob down by the carb.

Re:carb problem? 2 Years, 6 Months ago
From what you have said it sounds like the airbox and carb are supposedly stock and the Long Shots are the only upgrade. In that case you should be running fine and since you aren't then the previous owner has either let it set up and the carb is gummed up OR it has bad gas in the tank OR maybe even trash in the carb. Wouldn't hurt to dump a can of Seafoam or BG brand 44K in the tank, run it a while then let it sit a while.
Or it could be that it needs fresh spark plugs. Probably does anyway.

But... I'm almost suspecting that someone HAS been in the carb and it has the wrong jetting. When I got mine it was a lot like what you are describing. It had the stock airbox and was jetted way wrong.

Like Curt said, try the simple things first. Fresh gas, new plugs, Seafoam in the tank, etc. If no better then you'll need to pull the airbox and with a mirror you can at least see if the carb screws are buggered from being removed and if the PMS plug is in place.

Don't give up. You have all the help you need here. Just ask.
