air filter? 2 Years, 2 Months ago

hey guys, my gas mileage has been atrocious lately, from 40 to 30 for a solid 4 or 5 tanks...i was going to check my floats because my carb has puked one or twice in the last 2 months but in a quick check i pulled my air cleaner and saw a pretty dark air filter...how do i know it is shot, i shined a light on it since thats usually what i do for car filters but i can see light through it...it just looks pretty dang dark and it has a bunch of little debris in the crevices...is this filter causing me to run real low mpgs by running me rich...i know i should get a kn filter but i am lookin to do a spectre filter in the spring, i dont wanna deal with rejetting now

any thoughts are appreciated

edit.... the glue is still in tact as well
