Why are you running a DYNOJET kit when the MAXFLO has a full jet kit with needles included? We have had several people have this same issue and since DYNOJET uses different numbering, the Tech Support forum can't help.

Contact MAXAIRENGINEERING to get access to the forum, put the suggested starting point jets (Mikuni jets from MAXAIR) in your bike and see what you find. If you are still having issues, then the MAXAIR tech forum can help you.

Warthog,

I'm running a MaxAir with a 200 main and 35 pilot. I had it installed by my mechanic who ran it on the dyno and did an air/fuel mixture ratio. I had the MaxAir jet kit, but he didn't use it because he had to go up to the 200, which is not in the MaxAir kit. I asked him why, cause he charged me for the jet, and he said the mixture could not be attained with that kit.

Now, when starting, occasionally it will cough a little bit and then spit a puff of white smoke through the air filter. Don't know what that means, but I'm sure some will chime in. I'm taking it in for service soon, so I'll address it then. Otherwise, the bike runs great, no black smoke on throttle-up.

Ride Safe,

Dan

The MAXFLO kit comes with main jet sizes from 185 to 205 in increments of 5. Your mechanic sold you a jet you already had. Since he left the stock pilot jet in instead of the recommended 37.5, I wonder if he changed the needle that was included as well. We have not run into a R* yet that this kit could not be dialed in with this jet kit unless the engine was heavily modified.

i have been fooling around and have ended up using the dynojet #170 and the mikuni #40 pilot with OUT the ring and have had good results so far...
am gonna try the factory #35 pilot tomorrow and see what happens....
have ported only the FRONT cylinder on my manifold with hopes that my rear clyinder wont flood while the front runs lean (only a mild radiusing mind you)
this (i know) may sound crazy but one has to try what seems right at the time...
it still, however, has the off firing or lope of the rear cylinder despite a fresh valve adjustment and several other tweaks...
i cannot figure this out and it was the only objective before starting this adventure...
must be a faulty lifter because after the slightest bit of throttle is given and just above a fast idle....she smothes out and purres like a little kitty...
who knows???
i have made several posts describing this condition and hope i havnet done the wrong thing (placing them in the wrong headings)...
i have learned much as a result of perusing the clinic and forum...
i thank you all....
so this is what i have so far..

relocated fuel pump (under the tank)
fresh valve adj.
and right at 10,000 miles

Crash,

My kit only came with a 185 and 195. It's been a while, so I'll have to check back with the mechanic and see. He's been great for me over the years and not one to take advantage. He said the problem was the HK 2.75 Big Straights. He couldn't get enough back pressure with that pipe to make everthing work right. He recommended Vance & Hines in the future. However, his adjustment rendered an increase to 76.1 on HP and 107 torque. (Originally 67 HP and 99 Torque)

Thanks for your insight.
