We will be spending 5 days in the Palm Springs/Indio area next week. Does anyone have any good day rides we can take while we are out there?

Doesn't look like there are many documented good roads out there.

Take highway 111 out to interstate 10 headed west(LA)to Banning get off in Banning and take 243 up to Idyllwild continue to highway 74 (pines to palms highway back into Palm Springs. Idyllwild (idle wild) is up in the mountains nice ride and it would be a one day ride. Other then that. A ride from Palm Springs to Big Bear would also be a days ride. Palm Srings to San Bernardino Ca. is about 45 mins. and then up to Big Bear is another 45 minutes. Take 111 to interstate 10 west take 30/210 north get off at highway 330 towards Running Springs take 18 to Big Bear. Take 18 to highway 38 going back down the mountain take Bryant St. going into Yucaipa Ca. Stay on Bryant St all the way to Ave F turn right, take Ave F back to interstate 10 going east back to Palm Springs. Both of these are 1 day rides and beautiful areas.

A group I ride with called US Best Rides took a ride out that way last Saturday. We had about thirty bikes and rode from Temecula out to Julian then hwy 79 to lake cuyamaca down to I-8 then home.
Julian to I-8 was beautiful, trees were changing color lots of yellow and orange leaves. Great apple pie in Julian.

I was at a conference in Rancho Mirage (just outside Palm Springs) a couple of years ago and took quick jaunts up into the desert mountains nearby. Check out Google maps of Rancho Mirage or Desert Palm and zoom in on Highway 74. Beautiful up there!

That was the road I told him to take for a great ride! I lived in San Bernardino for 40 years so I know So.Cal very well. The two rides I mentioned are beautiful riding areas! And you just verified what I said!
