This place is like a "salad bar of knowledge"...pick what you like and what works for you & leave the rest behind. And you can always come back for seconds...and thirds...and twenty-fifths...

I don't think I've heard it put any better RK......I'll have bleu cheese on mine...

Salad Bar Yea that is funny because it's true. How much air pressure you run? What kind of tire? What exhaust is best?

And I was just saying, that the MOD works as posted for so many people, maybe you should look somewhere besides 42 parts. They are not needed. (Not to stop a great experiment that might work, that's how we got the present pumpless right?) Running out of gas at 75 is a problem, that's just starting into 3rd. I think your running out of air in the tank, you vented the cap. It should run with only the pump gone and the suzuki jet.

I tried like heck to NOT vent the gas cap, I ended up venting it and I am a little bit sorry but i am sure my tank is getting plenty of breathing. The vent tube on our bikes has something in the neck that can't be removed without some type of explosion.

The number of things I have learned here in disagreements is countless. Heat Kills Battery's! And this is how we kick things around and force each other to think out of the box.

I'd still just put a whole 42 on if I was going to use 42 parts.

I guess I've just got one of those oddball bikes. Did I memtion how my luck usually runs??? I can run fuel out the petcock and it runs out faster than the bike could ever use so my vent is ok.

I did notice on one chart that the HS40 on the Harley uses a 3.8 mm seat.

I can't see putting a 42 on an otherwise stock bike when the carburetor I have is good for 80+ hp. Money's an issue too.

I'll figure something out...somehow.

I'm gettin there. One tip for you guys - if the Suzuki Needle & seat turns out to be the same as a Mikuni 786-35015 or 786-35018 then you can buy those at Sudco for $23.36 or $22.81. their order numbers for the 2.5 mm size are 002-883 for the 35015 and 002-899 for the 35018. I've seen some pretty high prices quoted from folks that have bought from Suzuki.

Hope this helps.

Are those the hsr42 part numbers? I did a pretty thorough comparison of the 42's needle seat valve assemblies a couple of years ago and they were the wrong dimension to fit in the stock road star carb. That was quite a while ago, so maybe there have been some recent changes. So hoping you find a good alternative.
