Who's not being civil??? I don't get this I'm going to lock down this thread because you have discussion?

MikeyD wrote: Yeah, I'm with Bob. I don't get why you would want to put a car tire on a motorcycle. I take corners pretty hard, and I don't know if I would trust the car tire from not coming out on me.

That is knocking someone down and making it out like why would you do something like this??
Again Steven this is adults discussing a subject so why threaten to lock down the Thread????

I'm not sure Steven was directing that at you Danny. But , This subject did get a couple of the members here kinda hot at one another just a month or so ago. I believe it's fine so far , and info Sharing is the key. Tires (like oil , and jetting , and helmets......) are going to be each persons decision. Opinions vary , which is totally fine , because it helps everyone see the whole picture. We just want the conversation to remain civil. All is good. BB

I run a car tire and the traction is there for days IMHO compared to the metzlers. Not picking on metzlers they were good tires I'm just more pleased with my current set up. I do have two sets one mc and one ct. It is something you would have to feel first hand to understand. Many surfaces that a motorcycle tire can get iffy on car tire is sure footed. This is by far nothing new to motorcycles the MC tires of today came largely from road racing scene even though they are day and night to race tires pros run. So I am told by a friend who built raced and sponsored bikes for many years.
I respect your opinion and as always people choose many ways to go that is how you make it your own.
Just a few other pluses I would like to share. Better rear brake response and in lock down you go straight not skid side to side. The ride is much smoother and this is just a guess but would attribute it to the thicker side walls. I the rain it is great traction. Now some people don't care for it most I have heard use a taller tire than I have on their bike. There is a learning curve to the difference in handling but not anything earth shacking. By saying handling I'm referring how it feels in a curve not a lack of handling it just is a different transition that is all.

Just wanted to share my opinion if you read it thank you and if not I wasted these words at the end!

Re:A new "Darkside" video... 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Thanks for the video, well done! When time permits I will research your findings more in depth so I can make an educated decision with a car tire option. Again, thanks, this is really interesting info and I apreciate your efforts. Not likely to switch over, but who knows?????

Yeah guys, I wasn't trying to start any problems; I just thought those running CT's or any with an open mind to CT's might want to see another good video.

My only problem right now is that I can't get that Avon to wear out fast enough!

Wow, I am struggling to see an argument here. I said it looked good, that I would like to see a before and after in other words motorcycle tire and then the Car Tire to see how each reacts when ridden. I also said IMHO I would stick with MC tires. Not slamming anyone only saying I prefer an MC tire.

Thanks for the Video! I would have liked to see a split screen so as to see the corners or how fast he was going. I noticed SNOW in the video on the lawns, so I'm guessing he tried to find some ice on the roads to run? With a split screen, then you could have seen the lean, the road, the speeds.

The more I think about going darkside, the better my tires seem to wear? 9K on them and they still look great!
