Your saying that the CT will not last longer?

I have not been back to the darkside forum for a while but that is different then everything I have read so far. I thought that was the reason for using a car tire? Better contact patch to the road and longer wear!
I'm now confused!

OOps! That was a confusing sentence! I'll go back and edit to make more sense. (To clarify... Car Tires's are softer than Motorcycle tires but Car Tires's last up to 3 times longer)

There, that's better. Sometimes I type the way I think. LoL

By the way, I have GOT to find me another pink shirt too!

Watch some Youtube Videos SCUD. The Sidewall in never used when a CT is on an MC, It's always on the tread, After almost 7K miles, the 'Tits" are still on the sides of my Car tire. Even on a curve where the floorboard drag, I'm on the tread.

Now mind you, in that same sharp curve most of the weight is on one sidewall, But my theroy here is that my tire is rated at like 6K lbs, So that's 3K each sidewall, bike weighs 1240 fully loaded, I'll never overload that tire. Even if you calculate in G forces.

Type in You Tube search on Darksdie tires, Lots come up that show how it runs on the tread, and check out the Supercharges Triumph Rocket running the darksdie Video I posted above, At the speeds he's going, if he would get on the side he would slide out for sure. It runs only on the tread.

I have found that all reason and logic is out the window concerning Car tires on Bikes, I studied it for a year before I jumped ship and that's my take on it. And still my take on it after running the Darkside so long.

I have to re-tire over the Winter. I'm seriously thinking of goin over to the Darkside with a CT. I gave some study to it, and I think it'll fit my riding style just fine.

And I think that is the answer right there. It will fit my riding style just fine. I'm with you on this one forsure. I don't ride hard, I don't drag my floor boards, I just ride as a cruiser was built for and as soon as I wear out my present rear tire I will go Darkside. I would do my harley but they just don't make a tire that will fit. I would have to change out my swingarm. Which has crossed my mind!!!!

Maybe it's just me but I just have to say I like soft rubber under me I do ride hard and want my tires to get as much traction as they can give me, Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that running CT is a wrong thing to do' maybe having more rubber on the road with the CT just might make the difference between a quarter worth of rubber from a MC tire and what you get from a CT just might work out to be the same.
Still sticking with MC tires

Ultrastar, A Car tire measures softer than an MC tire in all cases, I posted a chart on page 3 with the readings of Car tires. MC tires tend to be Harder rubber. Running a Car Tire I do notice I am not squeemish banging a curve with cold tires. With MC tires I didn't dare do that. Check out the readings in bold on the previous page. All Taken with same meter.

Wow, I wrote a response to the thread that I wouldn't use this set-up because, in my mind, I'm not sure I would trust it. Taking a corner on a bike has alot to do with the riders confidence in the bike. There was no bashing at all included in that response to anyone or any idea. And now I check back in, WOW, some people on here are way too sensative.

But, all in all, even with the "PC Police" I think most people understood that and gave very educated responses/opions. Thanks guys.

What ever setup your using, rock it and enjoy the ride...
