Greetings from Toronto newby. 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Joined the forum in July. This is my first post. My wife says I procrastinate...I'll get around to looking that up one of these days.
Bought an 05 R.S. Canadian Edtion Midnight Star Silverado #294 of 500 in May. Yeah I know it's a mouthful. 4 years old with 2800 KM., on it. That's 1739 miles( just broken in) for my U.S brothers. Have always liked this bike and jumped on the chance. I've got just under 10,000 KM. on it now and took my last ride of the season today. Around 8,000 KM started struggling with the back cyclinder going cold, no spark and lots of carbon on the plugs. I think Iv'e got it sorted out after two plug changes, a new coil, reworking the plug wire connections and lots of trouble shooting ideas from " The Clinic".
I'll post some pics before I tuck her away for winter. They use lots of salt on the roads up here and we're expecting snow this week. So even on a dry sunny winter day the salt strips the undercarriage like a sand blaster.

Anyway just wanted to say hello to everyone, there's a lot going on here and I'm happy and grateful for your combined experience...eh!

Jim

FIREFOX1 I too mave an 05 and what you are describing is SVS. The 05 were noted for that. I had a VERY long bought with mine before I cured it. If you are going to put it up for the winter I recommmend doing my SVS cure which you can download from my site. I I would do that before you put it up for thw inter and make sure you change the oil after you do it.

Hey! Curt. It seems to be running real fine right now. It has Double Chrome pipes on it and I just installed a K&N in the stardard box. I just did an oil change today but I'm open to suggestions for the SVS problem.

Jim click on the link on the upper left of my sig picture and on the first page of my site click projects. That will send you to the second page with all the downloads. The SVS is a complete package of documents about the carb, jetting, and curing the SVS. I got my first bit of SVS around 3000 miles the dealer chaged the rear plugs and said they were fouled. After that about every 1500 mile I had problems. The dealer never could get it jetted right after 5 tries. I fixed it myself and haven't had a problem after that and I have 30,000 on it now. Enjoy the site!

Any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: I SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY. John F. Kennedy Aug. 1963
