Can you just use an RTV silicone to make the gasket?

I would think that you could.

Just make sure it cures real good before you start her up.

The draw from those jugs will suck the siding off your house!

I used high temp sealer but I only put it on the flange area outside of the Oring. I still used the Oring as the primary seal. And it took care of the issue I was having.

I used the over sized o-rings , ground out the little tabs designed to hold them in , then dabbed a little superglue (not much , just enough to hold them in place) in four spots on each o-ring. The superglue was just there to prevent them from falling out or shifting during install. With the bigger o-rings , leaks weren't an issue. And yes , it is very easy to find leaks with ether (starting fluid). BB

Just an FYI if anyone has trouble finding the over size o-ring I have purchased 16 of them to keep on hand for when I port a manifold. I will be glad to sell a set to you for the same price I paid and mail them to you if you can't get them. BB I used grease in the o-ring grove to hold mine in.
