i'd just like to add a note, when i took my front calipers off to paint them, something happened to throw the alignment off.
now it could have been the berrin hole's i had to have machined after the chrome platers did not apparently cork them, because the new berrins were half a
mm in diameter larger than the hole.
also the rotor's are sitting on the plating too (had to grind them to fit also)
ok so anyways, what i needed was an axle shim to buy a 1/16" because the left side rotor was rubbing against the caliper bracket! (why not both sides i may never know)...
the only area parts guy, a harly shop did not have a 1" inside diameter washer, so my improvisational skills, located a 1" E clip at lowes, tapered the ends slightly, and with the front axle somewhat loose i placed it between the bushing and fork tube with a tap'a'tap'a'tap'a'; and sent it home with a large flat bladed screwdriver.
it was exactly 1/16" thick, and did the job for $.89
ofcourse i went to lowes, then to the shop, then back to lowes again.
