It would be simple to hook up an idiot light or a pressure gage; however, neither one does much good! whether a light or a gage you never see the indication untill it is too late. When you hear it acting strange you look at the light or meter and say "damn I should have stopped sooner!" I have seen instances where on a car or an airplane an oil leak was such that oil came out onto the windshield, THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET PEOPLES ATTENTION AND PREVENT SERIOUS DAMAGE!

May I add that a light or a gage is good if you have a failure at startup. If the pump has failed and therefore the light doesn't go out or the gage needle doesn't move; that should get your attention and you shut it right down. On the road unless you are looking at the light when it comes on or looking at the needle as it heads toward zero it won't get your attention and therefore isn't of much value.
