I was referring to carbon build-up in the cylinder head areas. But you answered that one for me.

Hey Gram...where are all these little air holes we should hit? I just wanna make sure I get them all when I clean it.

The pilot holes in the throat are below and just behind the air valve in the throat. The pilot air hole is the small one at the front of the carb at bottom, and the needle jet is what the needle slides into when the slide goes up and down.

I have seen some needles that had some buildup too. Not sure why, perhaps the material difference. But I usually touch those up with emory cloth or something similar whenever I take them out for any reason.

If you have your carb apart definitely give all the jets a saturating spray too.

Musky..I also have a 2001 RD 1600. I just purchased it 3 weeks ago. Same question as Mojaverunner, except I also have the Smartpartz quiet baffle installed in my Longshots. Do I need to rejet with this combo? Thanks for your input.

Musky hasn't been around in ages don't know what happened to him. But to answer your question if you are just doing pipes and the K&N stock filter you don't have to rejet but you may have to tweak the PMS a little.
