Oil again 2 Years, 3 Months ago

I need to do an oil change. I used to use Rotella 5-40 synthetic from wally world, but they don't seem to carry it anymore (2 different stores). Anyone try supertech synthetic... is it safe. Looking for a synthetic that isn't gourmet motorcycle oil; but is quality oil that will offer decent protection.
Also, been having bad luck finding a supertech filter. I have a checker and autozone near me. I've used K&N before. Of course I can find Fram... but I've heard bad things about them from you folks any decent alternatives from autozone or checker?

I changed to synthetic my last oil change.... used Amsoil.... truly think it is the best of the best however... it is hard to get.... think I will go back to Dino Oil..... can get good motorcycle dino oil for $3.99 per quart at the local Autozone and a good filter.... don't have to order a case at a time like I do with Amsoil.... don't have to jump through hoops to get it either...

Wix makes a great filter and I can get you the number if you wish. Amsoil is expensive but you can double the mileage between changes..

Something deep down in my soul won't let me go twice as long between changes!
No Rotella T Synthetic at Wally*World!
That's where I've been getting mine all along... the SuperTech Synthetic, if you will look, I'm almost certain has the friction modifiers in it.
They've always stocked the Mobil 1 15w-50 in 5 qt. jugs. I used it for years and years with no problem. Only switched to Rotella last year because so many here use it and it comes pre-packaged in 4 qt. jugs. Worked great.
But if they didn't have the Rotella, I'd grab the Mobil 1 15w-50.
Let us know what you finally land on. (no SuperTech filters either? What's Wally*World coming too??? )

Be aware that Amsoil says you need to use their filter to double the change interval. If you don't use their filter they tell you to change the filter at the regular interval.

they had some supertech filters, just not in the size for the bike. They had Fram though. Both of the stores carried regular Rotella dino, just not the synthetic. How can I tell if a oil is bad for our bikes?
I don't think on the back of the bottle, it says "has friction modifiers to screw up motorcycles". I thought there was some labeling... I just don't remember anymore as I haven't switched oil in years

Chevrons delo 15w-40 is also a good replacmenet for the shell rotella 15w-40 both being conventional .
For syn oil 15w-50 mobil hi perf syn oil is also good choice according to mult people here in RSC even though it does have a small amount of friction modifiers in it per conversation i had with Mobil tech line.
Amsoil v twin or mobil v twin both syn oils in 20w-50 with no friction modifiers being designed for wet clutch use are best choice IMHO.
And the Amsoil can go 2x normal oil change schd per Amsoil site saving you time & money in the long run.

well, went to a 3rd wally world. They had my oil (Rotella 5-40 synthetic) . They only had one gallon, and it was mine. No luck on the supertech filter at any of the wally worlds. Wound up picking up a Bosch filter at autozone. I heard its a decent filter.
