The snowmobile suit I ordered came in the mail today. 37 degrees tonight and rode around town with a t shirt and blue jeans underneath. I was very surprised that I never once felt the slightest bit of cold coming through anywhere. This thing would really be awesome if you were to bundle up underneath this suit.
My family farms and my brother in law works on heavy equipment. I think I have just found their 2010 Christmas gifts. For $50, it was definitely worth buying. The suit is black and red. The red is really visible and hope that will be a little added safety.
Well I'm glad to see someone else has discovered what I have been using for 4 years now. I purchased that same suit but my problem I have with it is.
1. It will melt if your wearing it and the pipes are hot and you try and back your bike up. Your leg will rub against the pipe. I know I melted mine. And I can tell you that if you purchase a piece of leather about 8" wide x 18" long and sew it to the inside of the right leg it will keep it from happening again.
2. The zipper gave out in mine really fast so I sewed in velcro to keep it shut. When I put mine on I wear my normal clothes and then jump into the suit. And to add even more warmth I will throw a jacket over the top of the suit. I'm snug as a bug in a rug
(I'm a desert rat so I'm a wossie when it comes to the cold)I have riden when it's 29 out and yes we do get that cold sometimes here in the arizona desert. Although it was 80 here yesterday afternoon!

Seriously, Snowmobile suits are a great way to keep you warm, the leather patch on the leg is a great idea.
I do want to mention one thing....you get what you pay for with cold weather gear. The stuff that keeps you the warmest and driest and lasts the longest will cost you the most.

Lots of places to get a chunk of leather, a shoe repair place would be my first choice, arts and craft store, a leather store that sells furniture, coats, chaps... an old pair of leather gloves... farm and feed store that sells leather products for the farm... a welders supply store...go to good will store and buy a leather jacket or something like that, doesn't matter if its a man's or woman's, your just going to cut it up anyhow.

I guess you could use the 'ol ironing board cover mod with this suit, like we do to our Frogg Toggs.
Man, 50 bucks. I'm getting one of these!

Very quietly creep into the closet and cut a patch out of your wife's ironing board cover. Or if you don't like adventure, go to Wally World and get a cheap board cover. They are heat resistant, thin, flexible and cheap. You can sew it to the suit or maybe even glue it with some 3M spray adhesive.
