Hey Shamrock, the way you lowered the bags was borderline genius. They look great, most can do it ourselves, and inexpensive.Brother you hit it out of the park! I have been looking for an easy way to lower my bags. Thanks for sharing it with the forum.
See Ya

Thanks to all for the compliments. The drive side proved to be a little more of a challenge, but it can be done the same way. The bracket on that side has an angle to it that won't enable you to simply flip it upside down. It actually has to only be flipped 90 degree's. I also used 1" spacers because that is all I had left in my arsenal. I will get some more to match the other side, but you can still get an idea of how it will have to go.

I used a U-Bolt on this side but I think I might get a piece of 1/4" steel and cover both spacers and just run a bolt down the middle. That might look a little cleaner. I don't think it will be that noticeable.

And with both bags installed...

I will get some more pictures when I get it completed. I also want your opinions on the U-bolt vs. the steel plate when I get that done. I think I am going to also buy a little heavier plate for the upper mounts so they are the same size as the area where it bolts to the bracket. More to come...

I think you are on to something good there. Really good work.

I always tell folks to give bag lowering solutions the garage bounce/bump or railroad track test to listen for belt guard ( or even pipe) contact. Add to this some may need heat shields on bag bottoms depending on their pipe types and clearance.

Yeah I am REALLY close to the belt guard. I thought about just removing it since you really can't see it with the bags on anyways. Plus I like the bags tucked as close to the fender as possible. I am still working out a couple kinks on the drive side, but all in all it really worked out well.

Now if I could only find a deal on some dual exhaust...Clifford I sent you a PM.

When I put my brackets on I was clanging the guard right away. I rode it for a day thinking I would only clang on extreme bumps but it was pretty much all the time. I tried to use spacers on the left side but then removed the guard as I had seen others do. As you mentioned it is hidden behind the bags. Also, I ride solo so it was the right solution for me.

Nice job Shamrock, bags definatly look better lowered. For those who removed the belt guard to keep from hittin it aren't you worried you will now hit the belt and cause damage.I lowered my bags also and hit the guard.Since I kept hitting w/ them lowered I put the leather bags back on because I dont like the looks of the bags not lowered
