Chrome or polish fork tins 2 Years, 2 Months ago

I have an extra set of front fork tins that I want to have chromed or polished. Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on which way to go as well as suggestions on someone to do the work or if you know of anywhere that has an exchange program.

My winter project for next year is to remove and polish mine. From what I've seen, you can really get them looking like chrome.

Not sure I have what I need to polish them myself. Someone told me there is much more upkeep if they are polished. As far as cost goes which is more expensive?

As Curt said .... absolutely not upkeep .....
Polishing them is difficult but worth it.

It's tougher than aluminum.
First ... the tins are brushed to you need to use 220 Wet and Dry to sand off the brush marks ... that takes the longest.
Once those of off you can move to 400/800/1200 and then to rouge and white buffing compounds.
It's much faster if you have a lathe so you can turn the stock. I make an attachment for my drill that spun the stock around.
