Adopted a new dog... 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Cause of CPO's thread about "Roadie" I made my mind up to adopt another dog. My last dog " Misty" was a Blue Healer. When It was time for Misty tp pass over I held her in my arms until she died. She was suffering from kidney failure and there wasn't anything else the vet could do. That was 10 years ago.

Misty's death broke my heart that I grieved for 10 years. But CPO's thread about Roadie started me thinking about adopting another into me and my wife's life. My wife wanted a much smaller dog then Misty even though Misty was not a big dog. But because of Misty's age, she got tired alot so I would carry her home.

Susan and I decided to adopt a small dog. A 4 year old Maltese. Here he is my buddy...Eldon

I fixed up a dog carrier for Eldon that fits on the passenger seat of my bike...

My new riding Buddy...

I found places on line that you can buy MC Goggles and rider wear for dogs...just waiting til it gets warmer....( jacket and rain gear )

Congrats on the new member of your family! My wife and I got a new dog about 3 months ago. Like you we had a well loved dog. My wife used to call him her second son. After he passed I didn't think I would ever want to replace him, but after several years we decided to take the plunge. We are so glad we did! Molly doesn't seem like a replacement but is a new and very fun part of the family.

Still too soon for me. Been 15 mos since I had to put my Beagle "Duke" down.

Congrats on your new four legged addition to the family. Bet he puts a big on your face. Thanks for sharing.

what a little rascal. I volunteer at the local humane society and there are so many great dogs, it doesnt ever make sense to buy from a breeder. Way to go Kai ! you did a good thing!

here's a big boy I've been working with for a couple weeks. his name is George (as in Foreman).

icatchemall, Eldon is actually leased to the dog carrier and the dog carrier is secured to my bike. I want to make sure that Eldon is well protected before I take him out on the bike.

Hey thanks guys...

Scotto, I understand man, I truly grieved for my last dog about ten years. I didn't even realize it been that long ago. But you're right since We have had him in our lives he has definitely brought a smile to our lives...

Trob, thats exactly where I adopted Eldon...the humane society of my county....

Congrats Kai, that is where my 2 knuckleheads came from too and they have been the best dogs I have ever owned. I am sure it isn't the case but it is as if they are so grateful for me rescuing them that they just listen better and are the sweetest dogs I have had. Glad you got a new family member!!!!

Good on all of you that rescue our four legged friends. About 4 years ago I lost my best friend, a shelty named Espy. I had her from a pup and she was 13 when kidney failure got her. I went for about a year and a half and just wasn't getting over her loss. Then one day I was thinking that as great a dog as she was, she would want me to rescue a dog in need. I adopted a 1 1/2 year old german shepard named Brandy. She didn't replace Espy but she helped with the healing and is a great dog. I agree with Throb. There are a bunch of loving pets out there in need of good families. As any dog lover knows they make the best most reliable friends you can have! All of our pets are rescued and they are all great! Kai I haven't figured a way to put an 88 lb. German shepard on the Roadie yet. Maybe a sidecar. I know she'd love it as much as she likes to ride in the van.

Wow, I must be messed up. I have a dog, but if I had to put him down it's no big deal. He is a pet, not a friend or anything. Maybe I'm missing something....
