Re:Best sounding Pipes 2 Years, 2 Months ago
I've found there are two things to look for in pipes... volume and tone. I've heard LOUD but with a sharp or tinny tone. I've heard quiet but with a weak choked sound. I currently have Bub's Big Willys with the 2" baffle (the baffle is pretty much just a tube with scallops) and they have a nice tone but louder than I like. I've listened to a lot of pipes on Youtube and manufacturers sites and the best thing that I have heard (for me) is the RoadHouse Classic 2 into 1. Deep, throaty tone and just loud enough to be noticed.
This is just my just my take on it. Some like bloody ears loud; not me.

Here is a link to the Classics with a quiet baffle and the louder performance baffle.

Oh boy! You started it now! It's just like oil, everybody has a different idea. If you like Samsons, you can hear my Warlord Slashers here along with a bunch of others. They sound about like the cannons, just got a different tip. And of course I'm not predjudiced.

I like the deep tone of my HardKrome SideBurners. However, this is a very subjective question to answer. Kinda like opinions on oil, riding temp, best bike color, etc.

Once you settle on a tone another consideration is which pipe "looks" best with your sled, if that matters to ya. Duals, short, long, 2 into 1, chrome, black, wrapped, drilled, tips...

Am also looking and strongly considering Cobra 2 into 1 Power Pro HP. Appears to be fewer choices for the 08 and newer fuel injected models.

You can still use any pipe you like, but you may have to weld in a o2 sensor bung.

I'm runnin' Speedstar long slash cuts. Like billd says; they don't get in the way of checking/servicing the transfer case oil. And yes, Virginia, they're LOUD!

I've tried 3. I went Stage I with stock exhaust, which was okay. Then I got some Santee tapered tip mufflered pipes... looked like Sportser mufflers. They sounded okay. Now, I'm running V&H 2 into 1 Pro-Pipes, and I really don't much care for the sound at all, but the extra oomph of the 2 into 1 can be felt right in the seat, so I don't want to change them out. I like that extra power!

They were used and had the HD tip, but I think maybe different baffling might improve their sound, just haven't looked into it yet.
