Cobra speedster mods? 5 Years ago
Has anybody tried to modify them? I have the slashdowns and I wouldn't mind a little more bark! I don't want to just start drilling holes.

More bark I have had my Speedster Slashdowns for about 9 months now and they are just right for me. I am already half deaf in my left ear no high ranges and not much low. Too many guns and tools and machinary in my youth. I cannot help, but I think they have a fairly simple baffle in them and it should be possible to open it up. Of course the more straight through the more torque you give up. A little back pressure is good for torque.

I would say I'm of the same opinion as cruiser bob, I pulled the baffles out of my Cobra Lowboys, just to annoy my Harley owning neighbor . and I didn't like it one bit. The torgue was just not there like it is with the baffles in it. Not to mention its was just too darn loud for everyday riding.

I gotta agree with Poke...i have the same lowboys he has. I pulled the baffles once...and yes , it does make the harley boys run like little girls. However the bike ran like a three legged dog and i was deaf! If you just want to piss off the neighbors, it only takes about 5 minutes to remove the baffles..go for it! you'll put them back in when you get home!

Did you guys rejet when you put the pipes on? I am looking at a set of Cobra Lowboys but would like to avoid rejetting the carb.

I have the speedster longs and ran them without baffles for a while and loved it. but it cut my mpg at 70+ and didnt notice a power change. so I cut the baffles down to 6" long and helped the mpg but lost a little bark. so its all in what you want??? mpg or bark. IMO old post.
