Clutch slip cure. 2 Years, 2 Months ago
To go where no man has gone before......(Play Star Trek music here) I been having this slipping clutch at 35K miles, not real bad but it won't hold in relation to power of the motor, especially in 2nd and 3rd. So The EFM guy told us that no clutches are recommended to be run with synthetics, (Well I ain't giving up my synthetic due to our top end noise) So, I was going to flush it with some Dino oil, and I got to looking at the sea foam bottle, (They have a new scheme) Says Add it to crankcase, mentions nothing about wet clutches, has pic of an MC so, I'm going for it!

I put in 6 oz and within 3 blocks clutch starts to grab better and better. I intended to just run it home 1.5 miles and change to the Dino. Well, 100 miles later and still going and still grabbing great!

So when I get a chance I am going to change to the Dino, add some more and run it until the temps rise.

My experience is, it has no ill effects whatsoever.

SO have at it!

Excellent...I am going to try it myself. That stuff is the closest thing I have found to mechanic in a bottle!

Thanks for the tip. I tried the Synthetic oil and my clutch started slipping right away. I went back to the dino, but its still slipping. I just bought a fresh bottle of Seafoam too.

Could you put a smidge of SeaFoam in the oil and just run it full time that way?

According to the bottle yes, and I just might try that. The dose is 1.5 oz per qt. = 6 oz per Roady. I used exactly that and I rode another 60 miles since this post and I'm considering running it with the Mobile V twin.

I don't see any problem with running it full time. Might be something in the summer but so far so good, It did what I wanted, saved me from buying a clutch.

Wonder if it can be used in a tire instead of Dyna Beads?

I'm going to give my oil a dose and see how it works in mine.

well, if no clutch was meant to use syn, then why do new HD's come with it from factory. what a crock. then also why then does so many MC oil makers make full syn?

I've been running syn since 1k miles and auto oil to boot, now at 112k and I have zero clutch slippage.

shoot, I'd have to do 8 oil changes a yr if I run dino, that just ain't gonna happen
