It is sad and I feel sorry for the driver as well. I don't know the guy and I don't know what was going through his mind when he decided to do something stupid like he did. but he will be in the slammer for awhile 4 counts of manslaughter at least plus he has to carry the weight of there deaths on his head for life. I hope he gets all the time he should for those he killed. but I still feel for him I doubt very much that when he woke that morning he thought he would kill 4 people. I think that riding a bike for the last decade and being lucky when I went down made me a better driver. I pay more attention and I realised that wherever I'm goin ain't going anywhere.

It's funny, I hear cagers talk about how dangerous it is to ride a motorcycle, and I always reply, it's not dangerous if the cagers drive right. We are doing our best to not look out for other bikes, but for the cager who isn't paying attention. We are not worried about the dumb mistakes we might make, but the 16 year old on the cell phone texting, thinking that he/she knows what they are doing, or the guy eating his lunch, or the drunk in a 4000lb weapon. It's not just us, it's anyone on the road, we are just more vulnerable than most.

A crack in a windshield can completely block out a fully dressed motorcycle. Something hanging from the rear view mirror can block out a motorcycle, a glare coming off a windshield can blind you long enough to wipe out an entire row of bikes.

God bless all the families involved. With the number of bikes out there now days it is becoming all too frequent that we hear about this kind of accident. For whatever reason it seems cagers just aren't looking for us. Probably everybody who has ridden very long could share their own narrow escape stories. Be safe!

I ride year round in Oregon, it seems that "Cagers" forget what rain does to traction over the Summer: so much worse when the 2-wheel population grows in the Spring.

Was in FLA a couple of years ago at my riding buddies house outside of titusville and noticed all the roadside crosses and flowers at wreck sites. My buddy Pete said that it's a common accourance on the two lanes, all it takes is a driver up front doing the speed limit or a little less and an impatient follower who thinks their trying out for NASCAR, who dosen't have any perception of the speed of oncomming traffic.

From what I read, FLA has the highest motor vehicle death rate in the country.

Next visit I am renting an Abrams tank !

Good luck & best wishes, COOT
