SOS... 2 Years, 2 Months ago
I really hope this isn't as bad as it sounds, but I have a feeling it is. I'm pretty choked right now. So, here are the symptoms. Only running on 1 cylinder (rear is dead). Obviously, lack of power. Anyways, white smoke from the dead cylinder pipe, burning smell from dead cylinder pipe, also a burning/sizzling sound from dead cylinder pipe. Pulled a plug, same sizzling sound from the pipe. Anyone, help, please? Absolutely pissed, first ride this season and all of a sudden she decides its time to crap the bed.

Dan

Btw, 08, 31xxx km, mods include exhaust, power commander (on and off, never could get the map quite dialed) and a k&n air filter (new for this ride alone).

Dan

P.S. the smoke isn't all that noticeable riding, moreso when either stopped (at idle) and even moreso off.. it just pours out. Stuck valve, maybe? Might try and seafoam it all tomorrow, hoping for good things.

Never heard of an 08 with a SVS problem and would not suspect it to have a SVS problem. When it's waremed up are you still running one cyclinder?

I know it sounds far fetched but maybe a rodent crawled up the exhaust pipe.

Certainly try spraying Seafoam throught the intake manifold and see what happens.

Burning sizzling sound, white smoke out of the rear pipe. Geez. If spraying SeaFoam into the intake doesn't help, maybe take the rear pipe off and see if the bike runs better. You could very well have something stuck in it.

Funny you should mention that Doc. Gotta a good story here. Years back an old buddy of mine had a Dyna with V&H Longshots that had been laid-up for the winter. Come spring and time to fire it up for the first time in months, it ran like crap and only on on cylinder. I told him "let's blow it out" and I would follow him on my scoot. We get about 100 yard down the street as he was gettin' on it a friggin' half rotten rat carcass comes flyin' out of the bottom pipe. After that it cleaned up and ran fine!
