roadliner engine on a roadstar frame 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Hey you guys. Im new to this site. I actually have a v-star 1100 but im looking into building a bike. The only kind of frames I can fine are the roadstar frames. I would like to build a pro street style bike. Well my question is will the roadliner 1900 engine bolt to the roadstar frame? I was just wondering because the articles said it would except the roadstar and warrior 16 and 1700 engines. I wasnt sure since the motor looks the same from what i can tell except for bore and stroke. Any help would be great.

I've had many conversations about this idea because I LOVE my roadstar (99) but i would love a fuel injected 1900 engine. Dont really want a strato/roadliner/raider...even tho i kinda like the raider.

Guess i'll have to save my pennies ans send my engine to patrick racing.

Ironman Can you elaborate as to why it won't fit?? What is the difference in the block?

I *think* its a height issue. But would be really good to know the right answer. Would love to find out if the mounts will bolt up (both front and rear). If so, the aftermarket frames that have raised backbones would probably work. Or a modified stock frame along the same lines would work too.

But if we take the engine, we have to take the ignition and ECU. So not sure how that would fall out on the wiring and whether or not we could use some portion of he stock wiring. And the ignition is designed to use the Liner speedo too. Kind of doubting that stuff will fall together easily.

You thinking about a liner engine for the trike?

(1)think of big block chevy vs. small block chevy.(2)the 1900 appears to be a down draft EFI system vs. a side draft carb/EFI on the R*. Ever seen the location of the air filter on a liner? Under the tank. (3) weight/handling. The liners have an aluminum frame & Yamaha claims 50/50 weight balance. If you get a chance, ride one. They feel 50+ lbs lighter & turn like a sport bike. If you/we could shoe horn in that big engine into our frame, (A) could it handle the additional torque(2) would it handle ? If I get the right 6 numbers in the lottery, I'll report back.

No liner engine in the trike. Just curious. When I hear that things won't fit I often wonder just what the difference is and how much or how little of modification would it take. I would be curious is it like you said a longer stroke motor or just bigger bore. If I had the money like ironman said I would buy one just to see if I could make it fit. I love a challenge. I remember when honda came out with the six cylinder. A friend wanted to buy just the motor, honda would not sell it so he bought the bike and stripped the motor out to put into a custom frame.
