I use the 10" on my WOC fairing and the wife hasn't complained about any wind bothering her.

Now the real question is DO YOU want a fairing? Because if you do the answer is yes a fairing will fix everything.
Honestly I run a 13in tall shield on my fairing so I'm not much help on this one.

I am a short s$#t 5-8 so I DO NOT want to look through windshield, I hate that and with the mustang seat that seats you down and bike lowered so is there anyone out there that meet my low standards As in bike lowered, seat lowered, at 5-8 ,I have both feet at stop flat on ground knees bent ,so I'm sitting low I think 5 INCH windshield on fairing going to be the way to go for me in summer, but if wife not going to like it because of wind. I'M way to cheap to buy one and let it set in shed any OPINIONS you know what they say about opinions every body got one HAHA

you're still going to have a bunch of variables. with all the fairings that are out there, there's no sure fire way to say that a shield to keep her from getting blasted is one that you'll look thru or over. The angle of the fairing and shield is going to make a big difference as well as width, probably not as much the width tho. Then there are different type shields as well, I've seen some made for HD fairings that the top edge has a curl to it to have the air shoot higher and over the heads. There's also an after market edging that does the same, and will fit on any shield, don't recall the name of product, sorry. Seat too can make a difference, some passenger seat are higher than stock, some are lower. What works for one rider and passenger, may not work for you. I use the same height fairing all yr, I look over by about a half inch, maybe an inch. But I'm not married, so I don't have the same issues as you as far as passenger concern, whomever decides to come out and ride with me, they just have to deal with it, cause I ain't changing my ride.
I'm using an HD fairing, and since you have to fab your own brkts, you do have a little more leeway as far as angle, but have to be careful as well due to headlight adjustment, but it will, in my opinion have some room compared to the other after market fairing that already have pre-made brkts to fit the Roadie. I'm 5'8" as well, use the Saddlemen seat and have an 8" shield. also keep in mind, that someone who is same height, they might have a bit shorter legs and a longer torso, even a half inch could make a huge difference. sorry to throw all these variables out there to ya, but there's just no absolutes. and it can be costly as well. before you go and invest a large sum, how about figuring out the height of a shield that would sit just about nose level, when in normal riding position, from a 5" shield to a 21 inch is a huge difference, how about a 19inch shield? unfortunately, someone is going to have to sacrifice and compromise on this wind issue

Hey huskerbob
I have the WOC fairing, and use the short sport shield most of the time, and wife has said she gets more wind with it. She uses full helmet when I'm using that shield. When I use my 12" Recurve shield, she says she doesn't get as much air, and will use a 3/4 helmet.
In the end, it's like Erbman02 said, so many variables.
You might find someone close to you, that would let you borrow a fairing for a short ride. Of course would have to be one that would use your stock windshield brackets like a WOC.

I have a WOC fairing with a short shield and HD lowers. Before that, I had a boulevard windshield and the same ws with a 21" rifle replacement plastic, always with HD lowers. Even if my woc fairing is shorter than my previous ws, my GF says the fairing is way better, no more buffeting or turbulences
We are not that tall, though. I'm 5.74 and my GF is 5.4. We ride with a pair of modular helmets and mustang seat (taller than the stock one)
