Just make sure that there is enough clearance so you dont cut the belt. You would be suprised how much travel you need on a big bump or riding 2up. With no one on the bike I had a couple inches clearance. I kept hearing someting hitting and found a small dent on top of the gaurd. Without the gaurd it may have hit the belt. I would have never guessed it needed that much travel distance.

Re:finally got the bags on 2 Years, 2 Months ago
I ended up using the roadstar brackets. Where it mounts to the passnager peg I took a peice of 2.6 mill steel transefered the holes, then put an offset bend in it. then welded the other side to the bracket it self. Did the same thing where it mounts to the fender rail. This pushed it out about 3/8 of an inch for clearence issues on the belt side. But do both side so you hold the same gap on both sides. On the bottom of the bags i drilled new holes to mount it where the brackets have exsisting tabs. added a little fiberglass for extra stregnth to suport bottom of bag. (which might be over kill) and made a 1/4 rubber shim for vibrations. Then did the same for the side bolts but used a 1/8 rubber shim. On the side with the belt i cut out the center suport. took the same 2.6 material about 40 wide and bent a new shape that gives the belt guard full clearnce and barly misses the bag. Then welded it in where the old suport was. Like i said it was a few nights of work. But all together buying the parts off ebay, i have around 200 into the project. But then again here in michigan if you cant ride for a few months due to snow, you might as well chop them up a little i guess. Hope this helps anyone that wants to do this mod. sorry for the long over kill post.

Thanks for the tip. I double checked and all seems fine. When I had the belt guard it just barely touched it and that guard sticks out a good bit past the pulley/belt. I will definitely keep an eye on it though. Thanks!

It's always a little more work, isn't it? Looks really good...worth the effort for sure.
