Yes, the Tech article is sort of hidden, I have also had trouble finding it for it's title. I can help.
You go to tech section, go down to Stock
Carb title, 2nd sub title is this.
Change the Float Bowl Needle Valve (and lose your fuel pump)
Click on that.
I am going to outline this a bit for you as it is confusing.
You may well do the Suzuki Jet PN 13370-08F50 (Be sure it is right b 4 you leave dealer mine was wrong) There is another PN listed, this is preferred. It is the newest Part Number. About $40.00
Anytime you jack with the bowl, you want to install new screws as the old ones take the Jap Screwdriver or you will strip them. It's wise to smack the driver with a hard tap before removing the screws to break em loose. Anyways when you get them out. replace as article says. W new M4 .7mm X 10
mm screws. Yamaha will have them as well as hardware stores, go Allen head. This is in the article.
Pretty much do as article says, Everything. Especially the small screen removal in the inlet on the carb.
Remove your old pump as instructed in tech article, it takes all of like 15 minutes,
Maxair engineering.com is who has the whole kit available with everything but the Suzuki jet, @$167 its not a bad deal. you get.

Instructions (Yippeeeee!)
(Kit does not include float needle valve) (You get that locally at Suzuki dealer)
Just go to MAXAIR Engineering website and click on :
No Fuel Pump Mod - 1999-2007 Yamaha RoadStar Complete Kit
I Highly suggest ordering and installing the Maxair adjustable
PMS screw also. (What a saver)
You can order just the Pingle Fuel Cock and the Hi Flow Fuel filter if you want. I get no money for Max Air sales. I hear the guy is great, He sent me the Stuff. I am 100% happy with all of it and I am hard to please.
The fuel flow valve is SO, SO, SO much easier to turn off and on (It slides easily front to rear....and RES is EASY to find while riding, yes, I do that! It flows a LOT more fuel and is a serious upgrade compared to stock. I wish I had them pictured side by side.
There is a slight MOD to your tank, you have to enlarge the hole a bit, 10 min max, More fuel flow needs larger hole. No ill effects and stock Valve will still re-install if you wish. You will have your tank off for the install. I put the file in a drill and whaaaaaaaaaa Done in like 9 seconds LOL.
Ok, so you will have. A spanking new
Hi Flow Pingle fuel valve, a1 Chrome and easy to operate, this will join a short (2" or so) fuel line, Cover it with spring from stock line. That will Join up to the Reusable and
cleanable Pingle Hi Flow Fuel filter...... From there your fuel line goes Under the manifold and into the Carb, where it will flow fuel to the
Suzuki Float Valve direct. Everything else will work as it does now, No re jet or any of that. Just be sure float is set right and Fire it up. You may need to adjust the PMS a bit but hey! You did order the
MAXAIR PMS screw right?
Now, that fuel pump you took off is worthless, You can attach it to a gas can and attach some longer hoses and use it as a fuel transfer pump for your lawn equipment. Use a Power-pack for power, put a cig lighter end on it. Or, go steal enough gas at a parking lot to pay for this MOD. (Bad Joke)
You don't have to do this all at once all in one day. But you can and probably should. I did the Jet one day, Took the pump off and ran a line direct from tank to carb no filter and ran like 6K miles like that, no problem, but I would run out of fuel Fully loaded in a drag race. So, Pingle! Then I ordered and installed Pingle Hi Flo Filter and fuel valve.
It's a very sweet upgrade, you got rid of a part that is bound to fail you some day anyways. No way you will ever waste fuel again, Great reusable and cleanable filter so you will save money on filters too, and every time you shut your fuel off, you will appreciate the smooth and easy operation of pingle!
Only thing left to do is Write FHTSA with your complaint because Yamaha could be doing all this stuff to our bikes for free! Save your receipts! They may be forced to pay for this gas wasting fire trap of a mistake someday!
If I missed anything, I am sure my fellow RSC people will be along to add to it, or correct me. But this is an outline that will get you going and know that it's about a $200 MOD.
