Re:Unemployment Map 2 Years, 2 Months ago
There are 2 counties in SC with over 24% unemployment, and on top of that there are people not being counted because their benefits have run out... so the "true #" could be over 30%!!!

Not good at all.

same here, not counting those who ran out or those who are making less than before (under employed) with that, Tampa is around 20, 25% when I talked with my mortgage co. this past week, Calif, Ariz, and Fl, are all in the same boat, these 3 are the worst between foreclosures and unemployment combination. My brother-in-law is about to fold his company in NYC, 25, 30yrs in business, and now he'll have to file bankruptcy because of this economy. He just lost 2 huge contracts to some guy that under bids, but uses inferior products, and shoddy quality installs (window treatments).

Yesterday the state of ill. anounced they were laying off a bunch of state troopers and closing the state police posts!!??!! they said in some instances it could take 45 min to an hour to respond and reach someone who has called 911 !!!. Here in indiana, my wife is a teacher and with all the cuts and forceing teachers into retirement, she is reduced to subing and filling in where she can. she is making a 1/3 of what she was. and we have triplets on the way. great time to have kids ??

they did the city of Tampa police force 2yrs ago with lay-offs firemen, and city park workers. Canceled parades, and plan to cancel more of those as well. Teachers, geeze, now they want to base their pay by the marks their own students make, no tenure, and year to year contracts. Oh, and it won't make a difference if you have a learning handicapped kid in your class, they don't do good, oh well, so sorry, to bad. No raise, and maybe no contract next year.

I was looking to hire an employee until last weekend! Business is slow and what I do find is two man work. I'll have to use other sub-contrators instead. Not as much profit in it but they have to pay their expenses and not me.

Try coming to Michigan. With the auto industry in the dumps, half the homes in the state seem liked ther forclosed on. There were hundreds of little tool and die shops that made their living supplying the big 3... Not to many of them left. I'v seen and talked to enginers with 20-25 years in at one of the big 3 and they'v lost their jobs. Two good friends, one at the Genral Motors proving ground (17 years) and one an account manager for a HUGE suppleir have both lost their jobs. I work for a utility company, been there 24 years, never seen or even heard rumors of layoff's, well it just happened. We cut 250 union people and god knows how many non union people. With all the busness's closing their doors we'r not selling nearly as much electricity and natural gas as we use to.

We all know someone who is affected by this. Barnake (the Federal Reserve Chairman) admitted that the Federal Reserve (NOT a government agency) was responsible for the last Depression and they won't make the same mistake twice...well...

I read a short booklet titled "America's Engineered Decline" about two years ago and it is coming true.

God help us all!!

Book Description
Is America's Middle Class Doomed? For centuries, America's thriving middle class was the foundation of our liberties and the envy of the world. But now an increasing number of debt-ridden Americans find themselves joining the "race to the bottom". Across the nation, communities are reeling as manufacturing and hi-tech jobs are "outsourced" abroad. And even as our nation exports jobs that once opened the door to the middle class, we are importing waves of unskilled immigrants, including millions of illegals. No longer America's protector, our political elite schemes to merge our country into a continent-spanning socialist mega-state modeled after the European Union. In America's Engineered Decline, investigative journalist William Norman Grigg reveals the common threads binding these developments together into a revolutionary agenda. But, as Grigg points out, that subversive agenda can be defeated - if enough Americans will join in organized, principled action.
