Vinyl Graphics 2 Years, 1 Month ago
I've seen some absolutely gorgeous paint on some of the bikes here on the forum. Someday I'm going to have something like that on my Roadstar. Last year I picked up a little trailer that we use on our longer rides. It was just black gel coat and was pretty plain so we decided to flash it up a little with some custom vinyl graphics. It was inexpensive and I'm really pleased with the results.

I like what he did with the Yamaha starburst. There's a smaller one on the back of the trailer.

The trailer is light, maybe 190 lbs and only 20 - 25 lbs on the tongue depending on how it's loaded. The roadstar doesn't seem to know the trailer is even there. My mileage seems to be tied more to how fast I'm riding than how much weight I'm carrying or pulling. I've never had any trouble with control although I wonder how it would be having to make a hard stop on a steep downhill slope.

They can do some cool stuff with the vinyl at a fraction of the cost for custom paint. I spent $150 for the custom vinyl on the trailer. The vinyl is warrantied for 15 years against fading and peeling. Plus it can be removed any time you like and you can put something else on.

Wow! I had the same idea (using vinyl) a couple of weeks ago, but hadn't priced it yet. I was going to use a local printing shop. This makes it easier to see results. I like it.

I was also wondering... how easy would it be to remove the vinyl if I got tired of it? Would it do any damage to the paint?

I had a manufacturers logo on both sides of the trailer that I removed myself before I had the new vinyl put on. You just heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun and it peels right off. I didn't even have to clean up any glue but the original vinyl stickers had only been on the trailer for a year.
