Memphis Shades Batwing Windshield Advice 2 Years, 1 Month ago
Need some input on ...

1. How tall are you?
2. What size winshield do you have on your MS Batwing?
3. How is it for the passenger?

Thanks,

Doc

Adding to your questions Doc. I have a Memphis Fats windshield on my Roadie, with Memphis Shades mounting brackets. The Question is: Will the Batwing fairing fit on the mounting brackets?

I do konw that if they are the quick release MS mounts, the bat wing mounts will hook right up to the old windshield brackets. So, one can switch back and forth...or at least that's how I understand it. I know I have a list of the parts to order and I only need the new plates for the BW fairing as I alreay have the mating part on my bike. Hope that helps. MS customer service is good to help also.

5'-7" I had a 8" and 10" screen - going from the 8 to 10 i noticed no difference. biggest diff i found was when i slotted the brackets and allowed it to sit more straight up and fit the headlight gap better.

never had a passenger.

6' and I run the 5" shield. I also have a 12" shield (modded HD shield). Of course there is a difference when using the 12" shield, but not a huge difference (except for blocking the bugs much better). Mine is really laid back, maybe that is why the shield height doesn't change things much. I'm running a Mustang seat so I'm sitting pretty low behind the fairing. As for the passenger, it is about the same as the stock Yama windshield.

Thanks guys.

I have the 6 degree rake so the aerodynamics are different than stock. It looks like fireman's layed back MS would be similar to how it would sit on mine.

Klock Werks only has a 6.5" for the MS so I'm interested in knowing ...

fireman .... which shield and how did you mod the HD shield?

Buying a HD Klock Werks shield opens up much more possibilities.

The shield came off my friend's Ultra Glide, when he replaced his. All I had to do was drill 3 holes in the plexi and it mounted right up. It looks like this:

Great ... thanks.

That opens up a lot more shields.

Hey Doc Makcap has a shield i think would do good with your rake. Maybe ask what he has and see if you like it.
70" 13" I just peek over it on a Ultimate seat, Stock Bike, Fine for me, she says it beats her to death.

Thanks ... hopefully he'll post, if not I'll have to come over and poke him.

Hmmm ... your experience doesn't sound good. Ulimate seat with 13" sheild is OK for you and not for passenger. Mine's not going to like that.

You also have lowers so from where do you think the air is coming?
