Rear Brake fluid leakage 2 Years ago
Hi, I just installed an aftermarket rear brake master cylinder on my 01 RoastStar and after bleeding the brakes I seem to be getting some oil leakage from inside of the brake caliper up and back behind the bleed screw. Any ideas?

Did you take the brake line loose from the caliper?

No.
When trying to bleed the system the bleed screw is a 2 piece unit ( bleed screw into housing screw) and the outer set screw turned for the bleed screw was seazed in. After trying to bleed and tighting it all up, when steping on the brake there seems to be small amount coming out from behind. I leave a small tissue on top of the pads stuck into the gap between the housing and it picks up a small amount of oil. No oil from the seat of the screw on the housing, just comes from inside. A bit frustrating but I think I'm leaning towards leakage from the pistons I guess.

Never saw a two piece bleed screw or one with a set screw. Do you have an after market caliper on that bike? All the bleed screws I have seen are just one piece like a car has.

He may have one of those new "magic" bleed valves that you are suppose to be able to just loosen a quarter turn and it has a check valve built in that allows you to bleed the system without tightening and loosening it, from what I saw when I was at Autozone, they were a real joke and never worked properly.

David if this is the case you way want to look into getting the old standard bleeder valve, it may save you the headache, just a thought guys.

I dont know if its aftermarket or not. I do have the full shop book and it looks the same as in the repair manual. I even ordered a new bleed screw but it was not the same as on the brake. I have attached a few pictures. 1 is of the brake and 1 is of the bleed screw set and the leakage is where you see where the paper is stuffed at. It seeps when I apply the brakes just slightly.
