Switching to LEDs all around, have questions 2 Years ago
Hey guys,
So I finally decided what I'm doing with my rear. Have any of you had experience with switching over to LEDs? I have a 2000 R* and bought some basic LED bullets for my signals in front and back and want to go with the universal kuryakyn Slimline Low-Profile Tombstone Taillight. I'm sure it's not as simple as splicing the new wires in, is it? Do I need a load equalizer?

Thanks for any info!

Well yes and no.

The turning signals will flash too fast but you do have various options ...

- replace the flasher
- wire in stock bulbs painted black
- resistors
- load equalizers (most are simply resistors)

Should be able to splice them in with no other problems. To my knowledge the equalizer is only needed when mixing LED's in conjunction with reg lights.

Nope .... I had to put a couple of resistors on to slow down my rear LED turn signals (no signals on the front).

I just seen your other post and the flasher change seems to be the easiest and least expensive. Just need to change to an electronic flasher correct?

Yes.

Someone posted an aftermarket flasher that works but I'm too lazy to find it at the moment.

I have LEDs and regular and just changed the flasher to electronic and they work fine. I'm going to change the rear to LED soon so that may change things I don't know.

I'm doing the same thing to my '99 right now. I ordered the kury tombstone universal and a different set of LED turn signals. Just a heads up on the tombstone, you will need a thick gasket to make it fit the road star fender. (Kuryakyn) part #404992 or #404991. You can search my post titled kury tombstone on '99 to see what I mean. I called Kuryakyn and they were pretty helpful, They gave me one gasket for free and the other for 1.99. Either one will work so you don't need both of them.

Is there a plug and play electronic flasher, or would I have to wire it in?
