paint is very personal to say the least. I kind of let my bike drive me to the color. I mean some colors look great on some designs but not on others IMHO.  I'm running (well almost running) an old school Sporty tank so I went classic red candy over silver metallic base. Yup been done before, and better, but it fits.
Another point is how much paint and where. I've seen bikes with paint on every surface and they look like crap. I've seen them with great airbrush work but they put too much on and it got lost. So you have to think all that through.
Personally I go cruising through old magazines, photos etc looking for something from back in the day. |

Well, with your all help I finally made the decision. Took everything to the body shop today. Hopefully, they said it would be ready on Friday (It's taking a little longer, because it's a buddy of mine and he's doing it in between other jobs during their down time in order to make me a good deal.) Anyway, in about 3 day's I'll have a Desert Sand Metallic Road King.
