disc brakes getting hot 1 Year, 12 Months ago
I just changed my brake pads on my bike front and rear and I took it out for a quick spin and when I got back I noticed that the discs were a little bit warm. Not hot just a bit warm. I can also hear the front ones making a noise like they are rubbing on the rotors. Is this normal until they break in? Or have I done something wrong?

I assume you cleaned the pistons and pushed them back in when you replaced the pads?

Any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: I SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY. John F. Kennedy Aug. 1963

I doubt that you have done anything wrong. The pads rub on the disc to make it stop and the rubbing causes heat. Try a fairly quick stop from a fairly high speed, they won't be warm they will be HOT. The pads are always in contact with the disc and a bit of noise is not unusual.

And you might want to take a piece of emery cloth and lightly clean the rotors off. Next time give the new pads a little rub also.
And don't scrub just lightly sand.
