I've been getting a pretty good wobble on the front end recently. Don't really feel it unless I loosen my grip on the bars and then it starts to really wobble. I'm running 40 PSI in the front tire and it doesn't appear to be cupped (but maybe I'm not looking at it correctly). Any help or suggestions would be appreciatd here. Thanks.

Thats a pretty commom thing on bikes when the front tire is at least 1/2 or in more cases 2/3 worn out .

How worn is the front tire and how many miles are on it?

As long as it doesnt wobble/shake you arms when you have a normal grip on it & it doesnt cause handling issues its ok.

But it could also be a mix of a somewhat worn front tire and a loose bearing adj on steering head and or worn out streeting head bearing too.

take your windshield off and go for a ride - see if it still wobbles... could be wind buffeting.

Thanks but I think it's something else. Just started happening last few weeks. Shield has been on for a couple years with no issues.

Did check PSI and I am at 42 and not 40 as I originally stated. Reduced to 38 but can't ride due to weather. Would too much PSI be a cause of the wobble?

When you checked the tire pressure was tire cold or hot,psi can easily read 2 lbs higher at 42 lbs with tire hot.

But lower tire inflation could possibly allow a little more tire tread area to contact the road better controlling/dampening the tires tendency to wobble on the pavement .

I guess you will find out when you tae a spin.

Mine was doing it on decel around 38-36 mph and only on decel. If I kept my hands or even fingers on the grips....no wobble...take em off and it got scary fast. I had new Metzeler 880 wide whites put on and it got rid of every bit of it...it is like a brand new bike..only had 6000 on the old tires(dunflops)! It fixed my problem....just my 2 cents!

Yeah, I have Metzler 880's on mine now. As scottw pointed out, they may be nearing the end of their effectiveness. Still looks like plenty of good tread left though. Going out for a ride in a few minutes. Will update soon.

My steering head bearings went bad around 5K. Dealer tightened them a couple of times before they were replaced. They had flat spotted and would work loose with every turn of the handle bars. Keep us posted.
